to catch the spirit of the crowds
but all he saw
was traffic patterns

2/21/11

sudden rain
umbrella men
sprouting
as fast as

4/11/11

the momentary delicacy
of handing the deli man
a dollar bill
5/24/11

sitting down
on a subway seat
and it’s warm
5/26/11

adventurously
took a different trail
downhill
and came out
a little
different

Read me carefully, follow me closely, doubt me not…
I am the earth in the palm of your hand.”
? Beryl Markham

A GPS says to you,
turn right, turn left …
You will get where you want to go,
but you won’t know where you are

whenever I see
“friendly reminder”
it seems to me
that the “friendly”

is it
a blood-curdling
